We founded the Brynoffa Stud in 1977 with the purchase of a Mountain Pony foal for our eldest son, Adam. As is usually the case, this led to more ponies being bred and bought. We bred and showed locally Welsh Mountain Ponies until an impromptu visit to the Chirk Castle Stud in 1984 when we were influenced by the Welsh Ponies Section B and subsequently purchased our foundation Section B Mare, Godolphin Caramel, by Chirk Caradoc. Caramel had been Lady Margaret Myddleton’s show mare and was 17 years old when we bought her.

The Stud is conveniently situated in North Wales just about 15 minutes from Chester and 40 minutes from Liverpool with excellent access to the M6/ M56, and Manchester and Liverpool John Lennon Airports.

Our ponies are bred to be ridden by children and small adults and consequently must have excellent temperaments as well as true Welsh characteristic, type, conformation and movement that enables them to achieve as well as they have in the show-ring both in-hand and ridden.

Visitors are always welcome, preferably by arrangement.
